Back 2 Reality

Ok first day back and man was it a trip. Some days were better than others while some seemed to top the charts. Nothing but good can be said with catching up with old friends and making more memories for the books. I could get deep on this subject but I just prefer to acknowledge that all my friends and me included are growing/changing/evolving, if u believe in that; but all seem to make it on one or more levels together, (Im lucky to have such a wide variety of friends). Not even worried about my deck being stolen except for the fact that I cant add it to the grave yard of decks already. 1/3rd of the Beta Unit Crew is in town tomorrow, got invited to shred baker with another "used to be local" but no board yet. Steezin 4 No Reazin

I stumbled across this picture and I just started laughing. Is it so sad that people can stereotype everyone. Even the kids that think they are different are not different, they fall into that "other crowd." I find it so funny, everyone is trying so tough to just be Steezin. When it comes down to it, why?

I have come to realize it doesn't matter if you are wearing Levi's from Ross Dress For Less or Barneys New York Paul Smith, which Ive done both. America is so influenced on looks weather you agree or not. We are raised to not judge but that's the first thing you do. (Now I'm not saying I haven't done this, but I'm just expressing how stupid and pathetic it is, in my opinion) It doesn't make the person, not that I ever thought it did But...I think I can sum it up in one sentence. Can you SHRED or Not!? You are either posing to be Good or you Just Are. Not really sure why I'm puttin this in the blog but I felt the feeling to just say something, maybe not profound, maybe old news but I needed to put something out there.

I still love clothes and do agree that you pay for quaility but have fun with it, stop trying to hard..

Classics

Jamie Lynn©

Top Five Classic Movies

1. Ski Patrol
2. Gleaming the Cube
3. Back to the Future I
4. Angels with Filthy Souls (the best movie never made, from Home Alone)
5. The Warriors

Ended up going over to the parents last night and cooked the salmon and made the rest of the dinner over there, the end result was amazing. Ive also been looking for Ski Patrol to rent since the winter remindes me of it but couldnt find it anywhere. I found it last night on demand for FREE and watched it with the fam, great movie, great clothes, hair styles, just CLASSIC!

Also stumbled across some artwork that really inspired me to just be more proactive with how I approach life AKA every situation, people I come across every day and just "continue to continue." I Never really looked into it but was shocked and amazed of how many great well known artists are from this area.(Seattle/Bellingham)

Philosophy: "im not trying to take over the world, just trying to put my mark on it"-Quincy Quigg

I guess im really starting to embrace where im from and be proud of it. To stop running from experinces/memories from the past. I was super stoked to sumble across a local in the new transworld mag this year, see him up at the hill every time and he kills it. Shares my name and passion for snowboarding, Lucas Debari..kid kills it.

Its supposed to storm tough tonight, winds up to 38mph + snowing. Hopfully the mtn gets pooped on and I can add another one to the bank.

Tiger Balm

Tiger Balm is a life savior, I'm super sore today from the hard day of riding yesterday. Woke up this morning with the sun peaking through the windows, went outside to get the paper and realized how stiff I was, It could be that or the fact that its 13 degrees out and 6 degrees up at the hill. Made some coffee, kicked it by the fire, watched movies, cleaned the house, searched for a new board online. Went to the store and got some goodies to make some lemon jalapeno salmon and garlic mashed potatoes tonight. Love the weekends..

17 Degrees & 17" of new

Road super hard today! Pulled some thing I was stoked on and got my fill of powder. Its pretty cold here for Bellingham, Wa. Records have been made and its still snowing in town. We had CO visit this week but its been cancelled, still waiting to see if its gonna be rescheduled. Roz & I had a wonderful time at Baker though, shes picking up riding pow pow pretty good, which from riding man made snow to gods wonderful gift of powder is a big difference. Supposed to dump sat night with a big storm rolling in so I'm gonna check the report and ride Sunday if it looks good. Packing things up for Big Bear and keeping the fire place on.

Baker ticket: "Brisky Cripsy"

PS. After riding sold both our tickets for half our money back to some fellow locals who wanted to get a half day in. Pretty sweet, they were stoked and we were stoked. Good times..

Oh yea also found out that now all of my boards are delamed, broken or just pieces of ish. I was looking at it, 4 boards that I got are just not 100%. What makes me feel a little better is I saw a kid walking down from the top of 6 with a broken board, the tail was snapped right about his back binding, flopping in the breeze, I had to laugh, sorry kid. Anyways back to the origin, Ive been hearing amazing things from the bananas tech by lib tech...pricey but from what i herd there a top shelf item.

SNOWING!

ALL I SEE IS WHITE SNOW, WORK IS CANCELLED TOMORROW, BAKER HERE I COME!

BUSY

What a monday, Im so over it and just want to hop on a plane already. Work is getting crazy as we are just a few months away from TAR aka Turn A Round which means alot of work in a short period of time. Work changing hands to many times = mistakes = mistakes = people pointing the finger which isnt a good thing when your 20-30 years younger atleast than everyone you work with...

On another note its freaking cold here which is amazing. Making sure I got chapstick, and layers upon layers on. My Nudie Jeans came in today which is pretty sweet, even though im rocking long jongs on under still pretty steezin. Its supposed to dump tomorrow night and stay for 3 weeks.

Stoked!

OPENING DAY PT.2

THE PIG WAS FAT, THERE WAS A SLAUGHTER! What an amazing opening day to the season, sun peaked through and it was blue all day. The snow was light as a feather which is very unusual for Baker but since it was so freaking cold all day it was dry as ice. I just swooped the afternoon report and it shows 13 degrees...Performance was right where I left off last year which was surprising not being on a board for so long. Legs were a little fatigued. (Modest truth) My legs are shredded, I feel I'm gonna be sore tomorrow but just about to hop in the Jacuzzi tub with some Epsom salts and snow cap beverage to finish the night.

Backing up, after riding and seeing old riding buddies & few pints later we hit the road. Northfork was full so we took second best at Joowana aka Craig Kelly's wife's restaurant and has some very good potato burritos, during our visit the power went out and ended up eating in the dark and paying the old fashion way.

Looking forward to the season, hopefully they get some snow by next friday cause the plan is to hit it up with the wonderful Roz.

OPENING DAY PT. 1

It's 5:08 Am and I cant sleep. Was all warm and cozy in bed but its time to put on the coffee and watch some videos, might bring it back and watch Technical Difficulties...

Did a little work on the deck tonight, little wax, little blackout, puttin some flare on the season. Picked up some rumplmintz, got the gear ready to slay some pow tomorrow. Stay tuned for some pics and the report.

PS. Sabra hates the snow, got her all in her Holden Doggy wear courtesy of Pet Co, where the pets go and yea not so much, gonna have to get her some uggs and some goggles I'm thinkin. That's what you get when you don't get a real dog I guess, still love her though.

Undecided

So here's the deal, really need a new pair of kicks to jus chill in, relax, even go to work in. Now with winter I'm kinda wanting to stick to duller colors but still having a rough time. I'm really into Clae right now, everyone seems to have Creative Recreation now and I'm kinda over Nike SB at this time, only custom ones are what I'm into now... Snobbish maybe, keepin it different is how i look at it. So here's a blog for the viewers, not that i get much traffic on here anyways, more less a diary, but if you have to stumble across this, give me your 2 cents on what I should rock. All items are in the same price range and I got a Promo code for 25% off so its whatever. I'm for some reason kinda feeling this steeze, plus with my work I cant get to outrageous, as it is people give me a hard time cause I don't wear Camo and Carthart... Kinda leaning already toward the Clae in Brown but the Seamfoam I mean common what blog are you on, but I have to think its winter in the northwest..

We Own The Sky

M83 - So I bought this album digital shades vol. 1 like three days ago and I cannot stop listening to it, they sound super familiar...only to stumble across this song, "we own the sky," off there new album Saturday = youth. You might have herd this song from the Travis Rice film That's It, That's All. Great band, great movie...

In other news, The Roz™ is down for the count, not feeling good. So with amazing music on loop I'm taking care of my buddy and watching seasons 2 and 3 of the office. Also you know chicken Phoa is on the menu to get her back on her feet with all the fresh vegetables and herbs. For me, lately I'm a fan of Gentleman's Jack, just picked up a half gallon for a bargin buy.

You Look Crate

So after waking up and having a fabulous morning I thought it be about time to get ready for the day; after rummaging and going through every item in my closet I realized I hate everything, every item, article of clothing I would burn. I have no attachment to and really don't care for anything. This isn't anything new, it was sparked with feelings of irritation after watching double decade that I also realized that I haven't got anything new for the season, which if you knew me, you would know that since I was old enough to snowboard I always seemed to get something for the season to be stoked on until the snow came. Be it mowing lawns, selling lemonade on the street whatever the case I made it happen. Now with money in the bank I want to drop some lettuce on some goods for the season...To my demise there is nothing that I would be stoked on wearing this season. After being shockingly disappointed at looking at Holden website everything else just seemed to follow, so bland and boring almost like goodwill leftovers. Now I know this is pretty negative and extreme, I prefer passionate and truthful.

After calming my self I searched the Internet with eagerness and purpose, only to come across something out of my reach. The Secret Service. They don't even have a real website just a web page with there business card. The owner/founder of crate denim has a little men's boutique loft. With brands such as Nice Collective, Obedient Sons, Surface to Air, B Son, The Cast, and Esquivel Shoes. Its great shopping by appointment only. So the next time I'm down in LA, Ca I will need to make an appointment for some cocktails and shopping.

Bought a CD today at the Avalon, M83-digital shades vol. 1 very very good. I've been into really ambient chill music almost something you can ignore but non the less puts you in euphoric mood.

Life Aquatic

I love this movie. I worked a half day today and felt like watching a good old Wes Anderson Movie, looked through the collection and pulled Life Aquatic out. Everything about this movie is just top notch.

Things that make this movie so great:
1. Soundtrack
2. Bill Murray
3. Lighting
4. Amazing ship-which makes me want to live on a ship like that. I'd keep it at the harbor most of the time but then on long weekends and trips just head out and you would have everything you need; it's all about the levels.
5. Random shots that you ask your self why, what, but then later they make a full circil & add to the overall movie quality.

Gonna be a good weekend, I got a gut feeling...

Double Decade

So I know this movie isn't new but this is the first time I had a chance to watch Double Decade. No matter what, no matter how far snowboarding progresses I still think Devun Walsh makes a slow floating 360 or backside 180 look better than any new kid off the block huck a 900 or even some new corked front misty 7 err some ish. He paved the way for some smooth steeze and after that it all followed. Now you can argue that there were many other great riders before him which there were but in my opinion and after watching Devun, it inspired me to rush hard, go bigger and float on snow. If I truly ride like that I really couldn't tell you, not much into filming, more into being in the moment and with the people that make me have fun snowboarding. Heikki Sorsa & Eero Ettala also had amazing parts in this film.

Anyways really bummin on the weather, we need snow, and I need to ride, express, vent, slay some powder and just be "one with nature." I know its corny but I think I can speak for all people growing up snowboarding and making it a big part of you life that if your not riding after awhile something is missing in your life, you become bitchy, at edge and you cant really explain it but say I need to go snowboarding...

I need to go snowboarding
